Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
2010 release from the Gospel Hip Hop artist. On this sophomore album, Sho Baraka gives us a clear picture of what it looks like to be a Lion in this culture and master one's domain for the glory of God. We can only be Lions if we negate the lies that this culture bombards us with and gives us a distorted view of what success is.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding   August 23, 2010

Just an outstanding album. The quality is on par with anything on secular radio. I highly recommend this album especially if your looking for quality christian hip-hop. The tracks are bumpin, cant wait to blast it in my system.

I rate it 10/10.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing quality   July 22, 2010

This year I switched to listening to only Christian music, initially I did not know where to start. I had Sho's 1st album (which I purchased when he came to my church 2 years ago) and was impressed by it, so when this one came out I decided to give it a shot, I was not disappointed.I bought this album during finals week of last semester and it helped me and kept my mind intact. This whole album is absolutely amazing! It is multidimensional because he talks about a lot of things (love, life, past mistakes, insecurity etc...) and it meshes a lot of genres (hip hop,r&b and some songs have a rock edge). My favorite songs are 4 Ever is 2morrow, ITWNOI, We can be more, Mercy on me and Feel so alone. Since this album I have come to appreciate Christian hip hop and I respect Sho's lyricism (listen to Kobe Bryant on em'). Whenever I listen to other songs that Sho raps on, I am always impressed, he weaves scripture with real life which is something that a lot of artists do not do so well. He always comes across as an intelligent person yet he is also very amusing to listen to. I can easily say that he is my favorite rapper.

Overall 3.46 [nice]

There's quite a few cameo's on Lions and Liars from artists you may or may not have heard of like Erica Cumbo, Lecrae, After Edmund, J.R., Chinua Hawk, Pro, Trip Lee (who makes Revolutionary Died chorus a bonus of the song), R-swift, Tedashi, Honey Larochelle (who adds some nice vocals to the chorus of ITWNOI), Benjah, McKendree Augustus, Muche and Jamm. It'd be nice if songs came with picks of the artist along with the album art so I could get a look at some of these unknown artists. Just so I can place a face with the name.

Well I bought this album on sale for $5; good deal. I struggled rating a few songs like Revolutionary Died and The Rising. They sound like 4 stars but they just didn't come together For me in a way that would give me more appreciation for them. Lions and Liars is good. Listen to samples and decide for yourself. This album is easily a star away from a 4 star rating but a few songs just felt like deja vu. They're not bad as 3 star songs still make it into my rotation. It's not the best album i've heard but it's still worth a purchase instead of buying the songs Individually. Your taste my differ and the songs I didn't quite enjoy as much as others could be 5 stars to you. So at the very least you should check it out.

Before I gave my life to God.. I was a real hip hop fan.. Common, black star, Hi-tek, the Q tips.. De la souls.. I was there.. I was in hip hop.. I was looking for the lyrics. Giving up most of my music I have very rarely enjoyed that deep lyrical content.. and skill which is normally tied to music that gives praise to the material things of this world. But Sho Baraka.. The dude got skills. This album is hot!.. I love it!..
