I was hesitant buying this cd after looking at some people's reviews for it. But after taking a brief listen i decided to go buy it. It is definately different from the norm for him but, i like it. Of course im in to rock music alot too but, its a nice change of pace cd for me. Really like "Drop the World", "Paradice", and "Knockout" but, as i listen to it more i think more songs are going to grow on me.

4 out of 5 stars NOT AS BAD AS YOU MAY THINK   February 2, 2010

Alright, We got a Pitch for you...Take the biggest rapper in the world, pair him off with an auto-tune and cookie-cutter hard rock tracks and see what happens. The result isn't as bad as you'd think at first.

In fact, Lil Wayne pulls more of a Prince in the aspect of evolving as an artist, rather than staying formulaic. It takes balls to try something unique - especially when you're at the top of your game...and this proves Lil Wayne a true artist.

The only negative to this album is the rock samples. The back-beats are sub-par at best and sound dated. (What do you expect with Blink 182 and Korn alumni contributing the "rock." There's a reason these guys are doomed to re-hash 1996 for the rest of their careers.) Lil Wayne could have taken a slice from cutting edge rock artists and even blended electro with them (see Timbaland, Pendelum or KMFDM.) Talk about a mind-trip that album would have been.

All in all, its a good listen. There's good pop structure and great lyrics. The delivery sounds quality and the production sounds top notch. Only in 2010 could we see an album like this surface. And what a start to the new year.

For another great example of an artist stepping out of his comfort zone, check out Chris Cornell and Timbaland on the album Scream - Scream

Check out Prince when he started experimenting with the "nu-funk" sounds of the 90's on his symbol-album right here - Prince & The New Power Generation

And for the future of electro/rock beats - check out this unsigned band called "The S1nd1cate" - their debut album (RELOADED) can be found on Amazon.com
