About time Lil' Wayne came out with something worth listening to... February 4, 2010 C. W. Mckinley (Germany) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Amazing album, Lil' Wayne is finally doing some growing up lyrically. Got tired of his whiny GooGoo-GaGa rap in the past. He's done it this time with words that actually say something. So, it's not rap, and more rock. But, its better than he previous stuff that's for sure.
What an Album? February 7, 2010 Jerry L. Lewis (Chucktown, SC, USA) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I think alot of people thought they would hear some Carter III type songs on this release and if you go into it looking for that type of sound you won't like it. He basically took Kid Rockz style and perfected it. This is the best rock/rap album I have heard in a long time. Every song is a straight banger. It's nice to see an artist step out of their true element and still be able to kill it. For people who gave this album a one star, you don't know good music point blank. I found mulitple tracks I will listen to over and over again. Great release Wayne!!!!
Quit crying Rap fans..... February 5, 2010 D. Gore (Louisville KY) 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is the first review I have ever done on here. I have bought 100's of albums from Amazon over the past few years and this one I would put in the top 50. To all of the Rap fans who are crying and giving Lil Wayne a bad review, all I can say is you couldn't see talent if it hit you in the face. Rap artists for the most part are the most untalented people in music. Half of them don't even write their own rhymes much less play any music. All they do is stand behind a mike and recite. For Lil Wayne to not only do his own music but most likely freestyle most of it and than pick up an Instrument and play it is amazing! If more Rappers would do this I might just buy their music. Yes I am a fan of artists who play Instruments, not just rock but anyone of any genre who actually has the talent to play music! Not sit at a computer and make beats like the good majority of rap music. So if your a fan of typical Rap DO NOT BUY this album, you'll be sorely disappointed that Lil Wayne is talented and can do more than just stand in front of a Mic. Otherwise Buy this album, it's nice to here a Rap artist that has some real talent!!!!!!!!
Alot better than I wouldve thought February 12, 2010 Drew R. (Co Springs) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
When I first heard this album, I had a feeling it wouldnt get a good reception. Im sure most people wouldnt like this album because they just listen to rap! You really have to have an open mind and a likeness for rock to really understand and like this album. Yeah, some of the songs are really annoying. But its his first attempt at a "rock" album and I for one think it was a pretty good effort. If he makes another and I hope he does, Im sure it will be alot better. Its kinda like Andre 3000 trying to branch out to make pop music. It didnt go over well at first, but it caught on.
I applaud Wayne for trying to branch out and gain a new crowd of fans for his music.
GOOD ALbum February 23, 2010 Lewis Runemover (Somewhere) to all of you looking for "rap" please expand your minds. i am by no way a die hard wayne fan, but over the last three years i must say he has been on a rampage to solidify his place as one of the greats.
having said that, please understand what he did here that has truly not been done. he took hard core rap, his style and bridged it with americas past time, ROCK. I don't care how much autotune is there, the concept is nothing short of brilliant and anytime you can sell the lyric "coke boy with a guitar" you've done it.
As for his ability to play the guitar or lack thereof, get real people. he's not slash, hendrix, or any of those that could shred before him. He's an entertainer first and foremost and he entertained the hell out of this album.
